Almaas of South Florida Belly Dance Troupe is directed and choreographed by Renowned Master Instructor Maria Jammal.  The Troupe’s name befits the members well, because they shine on stage as if each were a diamond. Hence the name Almaas, meaning diamonds in Arabic.

Our Mission

Educating the public about the Art of Middle Eastern Dance. Keeping this dance art form alive is the goal and soul of Almaas of South Florida.


The Troupe’s mission is to expand the members’ knowledge and awareness of Middle Eastern Dance and to share this knowledge and awareness with the community through their participation in community and private events.

Our Vision

The Troupe’s vision is to continue to train the dancers in the truest form of the Middle Eastern dance form and to give back to the community by hosting workshops and producing and performing in our own theater events.

Almaas of South Florida host , produces & performs in the annual “ The Magic of Bellydance Theater" event.  In 2012 sponsored Madam Raqia Hassan from Egypt, in 2013  9 of the Best Bellydance Artist from all over Europe, including international dance artist Beata and Horacio Cifuentes and in 2014 Alla Kushnir from the Ukraine.

Meet our Directors

Artistic Director and Choreographer

Maria  Jammal is a World Renowned Master Instructor of Middle Eastern Dance. She has over 30 years of dance experience as an instructor, choreographer and performer. Maria is a native of Morocco and is very passionate about sharing her Arabic heritage and culture.

Managing Director

Carmen Garzon a former Certified Public Accountant and Financial Executive. She is the owner of the Goddess Store & Studio and founder World of Movement Arts Network a Cultural Non-Profit Organization.   

Radio Show Host for Bastet's Cultural Flow on Radio Ear Network.  

Carmen is also a dancer in the company and has danced in Maja's "Gypsy Tribe" and Miguelangel  Diez "Flamenco Tribe".
